Trying to decide on the right colour scheme for your home can be overwhelming. Starting with some very clear steps always makes the process simpler. When I style, I like to keep it limited to a number of colours.
Here are my tips to add colour to your home!
Tip # 1 – Find Inspiration
Start by picking out your key piece of artwork, rug or even cushions that will feature in the space. Draw out the colours you love in these pieces..take a photo so you can match when you go shopping!
Tip # 2 – Statement artwork is everything
Hanging statement artwork is also a great way to get some colour injected into your living areas. This can be an expensive exercise! We’ve been on the hunt and loved this Alisa & Lysandra Blue Thursday Canvas – which is now retailing for $100 (down from $329!) from United Interiors. Check out the amazing deal HERE.
See how it lights up an entire space? Keep your eyes peeled for more bargains like this one, to really transform your space.

Tip # 3 Keep Your Base neutral
Stick to a neutral colour palette for your wall colour and flooring. Even your furniture. This will allow you to easily incorporate colour without to0 many clashes. It also makes it a lot more affordable to change up your colour scheme when needed.
Tip # 4 Stick to up to three colours only
The general rule of thumb when decorating with colour, it to stick to a maximum of three complementing colours. If you’re stuck on what colours match…grab yourself a colour wheel or paint swatch from Bunnings.
Tip # 5 Add Pops Of Colour
Group coloured decor together to create an instant colour pop and a gorgeous point of interest. Draw out the colours in your statement art, or rug to create a cohesive look.
Tip # 6 Start Small
If you’re still unsure on what colours to use in your home. Start small by slowly introducing colour in the form of a Throw Rug,Cushion,Vase or even add a Plant or bunch of Flowers. These will add beautiful pop’s of colour to your room. Using Decor pieces to add colour,is also a great way to incorporate colour whilst also making it super affordable to change to suit your current style.
