I am in my fifth year of writing about spring racing bargains and it’s refreshing to see some alternatives for those that need to be budgeting across what can be a very expensive time!
I’ve always been a fan of splurging a little when it comes to spring racing fashion, especially when you only have one day to shine. But on the flip side, that’s expensive and how many times are you truly going to wear that dress again? For me, it always hits the back of my wardrobe only to be seen for very special occasions. Or never again.
That’s where, dress hire brands like Her Wardrobe comes into play.
For under $100, you are able to hire these fun dresses (with some retailing upwards of $500) for your day at the races. The head pieces for hire are also under $100, so it truly makes it much more affordable and there’s no waste. You pop it back in a post pack, and no dry cleaning fees!
I created three looks for Her Wardrobe and was stoked that I could finally wear hot, luxe brands, but not have to pay full price. It’s the perfect situation.
Her Wardrobe Aurelio Costarella Infinity Dress for hire is valued at $595 new but for us, it’s $99 to hire. Fashion is going to be bold this year on the track (pick one core colour that works well on you).
The flare at the botttom and the cinched in waist, makes this a very flattering dress and a winner for Oaks Day or Melbourne Cup Day. Pair with a nude heel. My earring are from Adorne.
I chose the Her Wardrobe Allport Millinery Stargazer Gold, which was also $99 to hire. Obsessed with metallic stars.
For Oaks Day I picked out a polka dot-esque frock that’s a classic for your day in black and white.
Her Wardrobe Pasduchas Vice Shoulder Midi – White is a sharp change to wearing a colour but for the traditional Oaks, why not try something slightly classic?
The millinery made me feel very Hollywood. It was only $69 to hire and it’s called the Her Wardrobe Derica Errard Millinery Modern Bird Cage Veil.
There’s always the option of wearing a dress you already have and then hiring some different, statement millinery to pep up your outfit.
And how playful is this Her Wardrobe By Johnny Triangle Pip Mini Dress – it has great movement and it’s super cool with a pair of black heels you already own, or pick one of the popping colours in the dress and feature that shade in your statement accessories.
Style tip: Consider your shape, as this one has a racer-style front and if you like coverage, you might opt for something a little more structured up top.
I teamed with Her Wardrobe Allport Millinery Camelia Yellow .
Stay true to what you love, and try hiring out this year. I bet there’ll be no turning back, for those big events!
