7 People heart this

By Caitlin Marwaha The Hazelnut Fox

Baby, it’s (still) cold outside. Although we are approaching the final month of winter, we all know that we’ve still got a fair bit of cool weather ahead. Below are my 10 winter picks to help inject some style and warmth into your little ones winter wardrobe. Best of all, everything is under 50 bucks!

Long Sleeved Dress

Long sleeve dresses are kind of like a uniform for my daughter. She has a formula for getting dressed most mornings and it’s 1. Long sleeve dress, 2. Leggings 3. Frilly socks 4. OTT headband. So we consider ourselves experts on this matter. Cotton On Kids always have great options and this bold, red floral design is the perfect antidote to chilly and grey days.

Cotton On Kids $29.99

Denim Pinafore

You can never go wrong with a classic like the pinafore. Not only is it a super sweet style, it is also really versatile. Layer up with tights, boots and a jumper underneath in winter and then come spring you can pair it right back with a simple tee and some sandals.

Next Official $15.50-$17 (Price size dependant)

Tracksuit set

Just as long sleeve dresses are my daughters uniform, for my son it’s all about matching tracksuit sets. This trend is a nod to the athleisure movement in the fashion world but Cotton On have excelled in making it youthful and exciting for kids. I love their play on colour and print, as well as the extended colour palette for boys – AKA not just blue, black and grey.

Cotton On Kids Pants $10.00

Hoodie $26.99

Puffer Jackets

Need something warm, washable, and most importantly warm? If your kids are at Daycare like mine you know they will pretty much be outside rain, hail or shine so sending them rugged up in a piece like this leaves you with the peace of mind you want. Gone are the days that kids puffer jackets / vests look plastic, cheap and bulky. Now they are cool, stylish and envied by most parents.

Girls : Jack and Milly $42

Boys : Fox and Finch $43.95

High-top Sneakers

If you kids are still on the younger side like mine (4 and 3), high-top sneakers are an awesome style for the colder months. They give you the extra warmth and height of a boot but they are a little bit softer and allow for more movement. They also look super cool on all kids and immediately give outfits some stylish, street cred.

 Girls: Target $16.98

Boys: Target $24.99

Knee High Pom Pom Socks

Is there anything cuter than knee high socks on little legs? Rug your little one up in a long sleeved dress, cardigan and these pom pom socks and you’ll be getting all the heart eyes from everyone you meet.

Oobi $12.95

Printed Long sleeve Tee

Looking for an alternative to all the ABC KIDS characters plastered on your kids clothes? Zara is great for fun, quirky and age appropriate characters and motifs that are youthful but a welcome break from Paw Patrol and Frozen.

Zara $15.95

Slogan Jumper

It’s not unusual to see trends in women’s and menswear filter down to children’s fashion, and here slogan jumpers are the perfect example. This Tres Cute girls sweater is just that, Tres Cute!

Outfit Kids $39.95

Cool Denim

Denim is a universal winter wardrobe staple and kids wardrobes are no exception! If your kids are still on the younger side you want to make sure the denim is super soft and stretchy but as they get older they will be comfortable adding in a bit more structure. Zara absolutely nailed the below styles, your kids will be the coolest cats in the jungle for sure.

Girls Zara $49.95

Boys Zara $49.95

Beanies and Gloves

So there are a few things that I’m happy to splurge on for kids and there are a few things that I’m not. Beanies and gloves that are likely to go missing within a week of ownership fall into the latter category. Thankfully Kmart sell these cute little bundles for $9 so there will be no hard feelings if you have to replenish your stock a few times over winter!

Girls Kmart $9.00

Boys: Kmart $9.00
